Drove a '10 Audi Q5 with the 3.2L V6 the other day.

I haven't really spent much time in luxury SUVs, but I will say I was pleasantly surprised when I slipped the gear selector into the Tiptronic mode and introduced the pedal to the floor. Quick for its size, quick shifting, and not at all dramatic in reaching the upper double digits. Incredibly anonymous, but just about as athletic as I could ask an SUV to be. (nice cabin noise when it stretches it legs as well.) Interesting.

I took one of these on a road trip from St. Louis to Kentucky a year or two ago, and I was pretty impressed with it. Dropping a gear in Tiptronic mode and hammering the gas pedal when passing made for a damn good time.

I rode in a Q5 with the 2.0T the other day, and was equally surprised how athletic it was, both in a straight line and navigating some semi-technical turns.

However, as a 6'2" guy I was not impressed by the size in the back, nor by the amount of space behind the rear seat. My wife's FXT is as fast in a straight line, not as good through the turns, but offers more headroom all around and more space in the back. Plus it costs a good pile of money less. Not to mention the interior of the Q5 was very bland

My mom owns a 2010 3.2 and I do love the transmission tuning on it. Super quick and harsh shifts under heavy throttle and calm ones at low rpms. Always knows when I want a downshift. I have the same box in my 335i and its noticeably more lethargic. Makes a nice sound, is pretty quiet, and handles pretty well, but I find it a little too floaty at speed, and the engine is absolutely lifeless under 3000 RPMs.

yep, at 5'10" on a good day I'm on the lucky side of interior accommodations. I agree on the price/value ratio, but that's true with many german makes vs. their japanese counterparts & always has been.

This might be a German car thing. My wife (5'0") and I (5'6") fit great in our 530 but my 6'2" buddy was wedged in when I took him somewhere. He looked really uncomfortable.

I agree, it handles well and the 2.0T also packs a fair amount of power. But I hate that shifter. I end up slapping my hand against the shifter about five times out of impatience when trying to downshift twice quickly.
